BATH — The 2018 Next Generation Indie Book Award for the Best First Novel was awarded to Bath’s Irene M. Drago for “Daughters of Long Reach.”

According to a press release, the novel is a seafaring, shipbuilding, family love story that was inspired by Bath’s shipbuilding history.

The Next Generation Indie Book Awards are the world’s largest not-for-profit book awards program for independent publishers and self-published authors. The awards are judged by leaders of the indie book publishing industry, including many with long careers at major publishing houses.
